PRAYERS FOR THE BROKEN-HEARTED

Please join us in praying for a family in our village who is grieving the loss of their mother. We first met them in May of 2019. We delivered food to the mom and two of her sons. They lived so far out that the mother could only get supplies to their home by horseback. That day we shared the Good News of Jesus with them. The boys were so excited to receive new Bibles. The mother shared how she had seven children and that her husband passed away. As we gave them food (through God’s provisions), the boys wanted to help unload it all and were beyond excited. We still remember the JOY on their faces and their eyes all lit up when they held the big bag of oatmeal.

That day, we invited her teenage girls to attend our daily Bible study and discipleship (Project Hope). For one year, the girls faithfully studied God’s Word and enjoyed each day a hot meal for lunch. We praise God for opening up doors that year for us to feed 180 children five days a week. We had so hoped to continue this discipleship program for 2020, but things changed and schools remained closed as the quarantine measures went into effect and the pandemic spread worldwide.

This weekend, the mother of these seven children passed away unexpectedly from COVID. She has left behind all her children ranging from age 5 to 18 years old. This is an incredibly difficult, devastating situation as these young girls and older boys are left alone to survive and help raise the younger children.

Today the mission team visited them and all their hearts were broken as they witnessed the younger children crying out for their mother saying “mamacita” (in Peru this word shows deep love and endearment).

Please pray for them. Living in these times of uncertainty is already difficult and challenging, but we know God loves them all. Pray for the Lord to lead and guide our mission and the community to help them find a safe place to live. It is very dangerous to have young girls living alone with no parents present. We desperately need your prayers. Pray for strength and for the healing for their broken hearts.

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” Psalm 147:3
