To all our friends, ministry partners, and prayer warriors, as the board members of Rooted in Grace & Love, we wanted to provide an update for the mission in Peru.
Due to COVID-19, our mission looks a little different during this unusual time. Just like the rest of the world, our mission is having to work in new and different ways. The President of Peru has recently issued another extension of the quarantine and is implementing a four phase plan to reopen over the next four months. Based on this current plan, international borders may not open for our mission teams and our missionaries to return for possibly several more months. For the past six years, the Heath Family has worked closely with their local brothers and sisters in Curahuasi to to equip, train, and to reach new areas for the Gospel. This amazing group of individuals have faithfully partnered and served with us in helping to feed and disciple 180 youth five days a week for Project Hope and to disciple and minister to hundreds of adults and children living in surrounding villages. With the President closing down school gatherings in Peru for 2020, we feel God is leading our Peruvian team to minister to these youth and others during this very difficult time.
We are working virtually with our Peruvian brothers and sisters to help teach and assist them so they can help these families as quickly as possible. Our HOPE is to reach individuals and families where they are. We praise God as Rooted In Grace & Love has now received permissions from the authorities to distribute food, supplies, and to continue to advance the Gospel to the students in Project Hope and to families in desperate need in the midst of this pandemic. The people of Peru have been greatly impacted by the economic crisis with food shortages and rising prices. For the next few months, as the lock-down continues, the team in Peru will prepare food, collect supplies, and deliver them to families directly in their homes (all within a three hour radius of Curahausi). Transportation is still restricted at this time in the country, but we are seeking all necessary permissions and documentations to be able to travel to reach the people. Our HOPE is to GO and preach the GOSPEL – to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. Pray for souls to be saved and for many to come to know the saving power of Jesus Christ.
Please pray each day for the team in Peru. Please also pray for the Heath Family as they hope to return as soon as the international borders reopen. Pray as they continue to work with the team in Peru to help pray, disciple/teach through online conferencing, and provide the Peru team and laymen pastors with the resources they need. Thank you for your continued prayers, support, and encouragement during these very trying times.
